NIA Workers Call Off Strike, Nationwide ID Services Back in Action Starting June 30

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the temporary halt of the indefinite strike by its staff from the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU), enabling a full restoration of registration and ID services nationwide from Monday, June 30, 2025.
In a statement released on Sunday, June 29, Williams Ampomah E. Darlas, Head of NIA’s Corporate Affairs Directorate, revealed that this decision came after thorough discussions involving key parties such as the National Labour Commission, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, Ministry of Finance, and PSWU leadership.
The NIA management expressed gratitude for the union’s goodwill and reassured employees that their valid concerns remain a top priority, receiving ongoing urgent attention.
The strike had caused interruptions in access to national ID registration, and the NIA apologized for any inconvenience experienced during this period while thanking the public for their patience.
Starting Monday, all NIA offices and registration centers will operate fully, with the authority encouraging citizens to take advantage of the resumed services. The NIA reaffirmed its dedication to providing Ghanaians with high-quality, efficient, and dependable identification services in line with its national responsibilities.
