Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has affirmed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) intends to use its two-thirds majority in Parliament to drive meaningful reforms—not to dominate or suppress opposing voices.
Addressing Parliament after the swearing-in of Ablekuma North MP Ewurabena Aubynn, Ayariga highlighted that the NDC now commands 184 seats, complemented by four independent MPs, far outnumbering the New Patriotic Party’s 86 seats.
“With this strong majority, we can pursue vital constitutional reforms and legislative initiatives to improve governance and national development,” he stated.
He emphasized that President John Mahama remains committed to democratic principles, assuring that the parliamentary majority would be wielded with responsibility and fairness.
“We are not here to abuse power. President Mahama’s pledge still holds—this majority will be used prudently to advance the interests of all Ghanaians,” Ayariga declared.
