‘NDC Leadership in Atwima Kwanwoma Is Divided; I Will Fix It if Elected Constituency Chairman’ – Solomon Jabari
NDC Island–City Branch Chairman declares intention to contest constituency chairmanship, promises unity, infrastructure and stronger grassroots coordination

- Solomon Jabari has declared his intention to contest the Atwima Kwanwoma NDC Constituency Chairmanship, citing leadership gaps in the constituency
- He highlighted the lack of unity and coordination in the constituency, which affected the party’s performance during the 2024 elections
- Jabari promises to fix the leadership disconnect, build a befitting constituency office, and strengthen communication between branches and executives if elected
The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Island–City Branch in Kumasi, Mr. Solomon Jabari, has described the leadership situation in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency as disjointed,
He declared that “there is currently no link in the leadership” and vowing to fix it if given the mandate.
Speaking in an interview on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show with Kwame Tanko on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, he said, the lack of coordination and unity within the constituency leadership negatively affected the party’s performance going into the 2024 general elections.
“Politics in Atwima Kwanwoma is worrying. There was no unity going into the 2024 election, and currently there is no link in the leadership. If elected, I will fix it,” he stated.
Declaration and Commitment to the Constituency
Mr. Jabari revealed that he made his formal declaration on Sunday, December 28, 2025 to contest the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency Chairmanship of the NDC, should nominations be opened later this year, at Ahenema Kokobeng during the NDC Island–City end-of-year party, an event that brought together party faithful, supporters and key regional figures to celebrate the year and reflect on the party’s future.
He explained that although he serves as the Island–City Branch Chairman in Kumasi, his political and financial contributions have consistently supported the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency.
“I am an NDC financier and part of the party’s security team. If I can finance activities at the regional level, then I must also come back to the constituency, because in the future I will seek their support,” he said.
Concerns Over Leadership Engagement
Mr. Jabari disclosed that despite working tirelessly for the party in Atwima Kwanwoma during the 2024 elections—providing T-shirts, food and other logistics—there was no effective engagement with constituency leadership.
He noted with concern that as a branch chairman, he never had a meeting with the constituency chairman throughout the electioneering campaign.
“We worked hard in Atwima Kwanwoma, but we were left with leadership issues. There was no coordination, and that affected the campaign,” he added.
Promise of Infrastructure and Unity
Describing Atwima Kwanwoma as the second largest constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Jabari lamented the absence of a permanent constituency office, describing it as unacceptable.
He pledged that if elected constituency chairman, he would build a befitting constituency office and prioritise unity, communication and grassroots mobilisation.
“A constituency of this size must have an office. Beyond that, we need leadership that connects branches, wards and executives. That is the gap I am coming to fix,” he stressed.
Mr. Jabari’s declaration sets the stage for what is expected to be a keen contest as the NDC prepares internally for future elections and works to rebuild cohesion in one of its most critical constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
