Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe Addo has encouraged students of Aburi Girls’ Senior High School to uphold discipline, practice responsible digital behaviour, and remain committed to excellence as they prepare to lead future generations.

She delivered the message on behalf of the First Lady, H.E. Mrs. Lordina Mahama, during the school’s 79th Speech and Prize-Giving Day, celebrated under the theme “A Legacy of Light: Influencing Future Generations.”

The event featured cultural displays, exhibitions, the naming of new houses, and the presentation of awards for outstanding academic and leadership achievements.

Promoting Digital Responsibility

Addressing the students, Nana Oye underscored the importance of protecting one’s dignity in the digital space. She cautioned learners against harmful online trends and encouraged them to reflect the school’s core values—integrity, humility, and upright leadership—both offline and online.

She further urged teachers to provide stronger guidance and oversight while integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI), media literacy, and other emerging digital tools into teaching and learning.

Government’s Education Reforms Highlighted

Nana Oye also outlined key reforms under the government’s Education Reset Agenda, including improvements to the Free SHS policy, expanded support for school feeding, renewed investment in school infrastructure, free tertiary education for first-year students, and enhanced teacher welfare.

She commended Aburi Girls’ SHS for remaining a “Light on the Hill,” nurturing confident and morally grounded young women who continue to contribute to national development.

Celebrating a Legacy of Excellence

The ceremony was chaired by Mrs. Marian Yeboah and featured special addresses by Headmistress Mrs. Wilhelmina Obuobisa-Atakora, Mrs. Lydia Essuah, and AOGA Global President Prof. G. Koryoe Anim-Wright.

Festivities also included the cutting of an anniversary cake and the symbolic handing over of the school’s torch to the 2001 Year Group, marking a continued tradition of mentorship and legacy.

Aburi Girls’ SHS once again affirmed its long-standing reputation for excellence, discipline, and leadership development.
