Newborn mothers at Koforidua Central Hospital, Dwenase CHPS Compound, St. Joseph Hospital, and the Koforidua Polyclinic have commended MTN Ghana for its tremendous Christmas Eve support.
The mothers stated that the donated items represent significant household expenses during the newborn period. Products such as diapers, soap, and baby oil constitute essential supplies for infant hygiene and comfort in the crucial early weeks.

MTN Ghana has been donating to newborn mothers every Christmas as a gesture of love and kindness.
This year, the company donated hampers containing diapers, detergents, toys, and personal care products to 40 newborn mothers at Koforidua Central Hospital, the Polyclinic, St. Joseph Hospital, and the Dwenase CHPS Compound. The donation aimed to ease the immediate financial burden on mothers who delivered on Christmas Day.
Mr. Ebenezer Okaikoi Tetteh, Team Lead for MTN Eastern Region, said Christmas is not only about celebration but also about giving to others. He explained that the gesture is an annual ritual and that this year marks the 14th edition of the company’s support for newborn mothers.

The donation forms part of MTN Ghana’s broader corporate social responsibility initiatives focused on healthcare and maternal support. The company has maintained a tradition of visiting hospitals during the festive season to support families with newborns.
“MTN is replicating this act by welcoming these babies into the world and ushering them into the MTN family,” Mr. Tetteh explained during the presentation ceremony.
He further emphasized the company’s commitment to contributing to communities where it operates and making positive impacts on lives.
Elizabeth Asantewa Tewia, a midwifery officer at the Eastern Regional Hospital, expressed gratitude on behalf of hospital management, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit, and the beneficiary mothers. She highlighted the challenges many expectant mothers face when arriving at the delivery ward.
“On behalf of the hospital management, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit, and the beneficiary mothers, I say a very big thank you to MTN,” Mrs. Tewia stated. “On occasions like this, you always come and give us what the babies need. Indeed, most pregnant women come to the delivery ward with nothing, not even baby diapers, and nurses sometimes have to contribute money to support needy mothers.”
She noted that the donated hampers would provide crucial relief for newborns and their mothers and praised MTN’s consistent support. She also expressed hope that the company would continue assisting underprivileged mothers in the future.
