Minority Rejects Kpandai Election Rerun Ruling, Slams Justice Brew Plange
Minority calls Justice Brew Plange’s Kpandai annulment ‘judicial irresponsibility

- Minority calls ruling ‘judicial irresponsibility’ and vows to challenge it
- Sitting MP Matthew Nyindam’s removal opposed until legal process concludes
The Minority in Parliament has sharply criticized Tamale High Court Judge, Justice Emmanuel Brew Plange, accusing him of judicial irresponsibility over his handling of the Kpandai election petition.
On Monday, 24 November 2025, Justice Brew Plange annulled the 2024 parliamentary election in Kpandai, citing widespread irregularities, and ordered a fresh election within 30 days.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin condemned the ruling, warning that the caucus would challenge any attempt to remove sitting MP Matthew Nyindam from Parliament before the legal process is fully exhausted.
“The judgment is breathtaking in its reach and alarming in its implications,” Afenyo-Markin said. “His Lordship has ordered a complete rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election. This is not routine judicial intervention—it is deeply troubling. To void an entire constituency’s election without ensuring a fully reasoned judgment is prepared and published is judicial irresponsibility of the highest order.”
