President John Dramani Mahama has vowed to make his second term transformative, emphasizing his commitment to strengthening Ghana’s economy and instituting governance reforms that will endure beyond his tenure.

Speaking at the annual New Year School Conference on Tuesday, January 6, President Mahama said his mandate will focus on policies that cannot be easily reversed by future governments.

“I have decided to make this second mandate so graciously granted to me by Ghanaians count. I have pledged to raise our economy and governance to a level that no succeeding government can reverse,” he declared.

He highlighted the importance of setting a positive example for democracy in the region, noting that Ghana must demonstrate the effectiveness of democratic governance and the ability of leaders to safeguard citizens’ interests while fostering national prosperity.

The President also assured Ghanaians of continued fiscal discipline and sound economic management throughout his term, including the election year of 2028.

“I can assure Ghanaians also that we will not relax the current fiscal discipline and efficient management of the economy even in the election year of 2028,” Mahama added.
