“Lumba’s Funeral Will Be Held On March 14, 2026, Not December 13, 2025” — Akosua Serwaa’s Lawyer, William Kusi
Lawyer Kusi says the funeral date was set without full family consent, prompting a reschedule to March 2026

- Daddy Lumba’s funeral has been postponed from December 13, 2025, to March 14, 2026
- Lawyer William Kusi says the original date was set without full family consultation
- The rescheduling comes amid ongoing legal disputes and the high-profile widowhood case
The widowhood dispute surrounding the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba has taken a new turn, as Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer, William Kusi, announced that the funeral will not take place on December 13, 2025, as previously planned, but has been postponed to March 14, 2026.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on the Se Sen Show on Lawson TV, hosted by Kwame Tanko, Lawyer Kusi explained that the postponement is due to Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu forming his own committee to fix the funeral date without consulting other family members.
“Lumba’s Funeral Will Not Be Held On December 13, 2025, But On March 14, 2026,” Kusi confirmed.
“The date initially announced was set without the involvement of the entire family, which made it necessary to reschedule.”
Kusi, representing Akosua Serwaa, also reiterated his position that the court ruling regarding the widowhood dispute was flawed:
“The Judge Was Wrong In Her Ruling; We Filed An Appeal Immediately After The Judgment,” he said.
He highlighted that Odo Buroni cannot be recognized as a wife, and only Daddy Lumba’s six children are entitled to his estate.
The lawyer revealed that Akosua Serwaa broke down uncontrollably after the court ruling last Friday, prompting immediate support from family and legal aides to ensure her safety.
“She cried uncontrollably after the ruling, and we were afraid she might harm herself. We had to send people to her house immediately,” Kusi recounted.
