The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has delivered a major blow to illegal narcotics trafficking in the region following a high-profile seizure at the Tweapease Police barrier.

The operation highlights the command’s commitment to public safety and its determination to crack down on drug-related crimes in the transit corridors between the Ashanti and Central Regions.

On Friday, 13 February 2026, police officers intercepted a red OA KIA Grandbird bus traveling along the busy Obuasi-Dunkwa highway.

Concealed inside the vehicle were 257 packs of Tramadol and 58 packs of Tapentadol, two potent synthetic opioids often sold under the street name “Royal.” Authorities noted that the bus was en route to Ayanfuri“], a mining hub near Dunkwa-on-Offin.
