The Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command has arrested three people for stealing sardines from a cargo truck that overturned on the Accra-Kumasi highway at Kwahu Fodua in the Eastern Region’s Kwahu West Municipality.

The truck, registered AA 119CY, was transporting goods from Accra to Kumasi with a driver and his mate when it tipped over, blocking traffic in both directions.

Preliminary reports indicate the driver swerved to avoid a pothole, causing the accident, though investigations are ongoing.

The incident attracted a crowd of onlookers, some helping to tow the vehicle. Amid the chaos, three individuals were caught taking sardines from the overturned truck and handed over to police.

The driver and his assistant were rushed to Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw for treatment.
