Kwabena Agyepong, former flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has strongly criticized the party’s decision to remove him as General Secretary in 2015, calling it both unjustified and illegal.

Agyepong, along with former National Chairman Paul Afoko and Second Vice Chairman Sammy Crabbe, were suspended following internal disciplinary proceedings within the party.

The NPP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) suspended Afoko on October 23, 2015, and later, Agyepong and Crabbe were indefinitely suspended on December 10, 2015, after the NEC upheld the Disciplinary Committee’s recommendations.

The suspensions were attributed to alleged misconduct and actions violating the party’s constitution.

However, in a recent interview, Agyepong reaffirmed that due process was not followed in his case, stating, “I have said it publicly that it was unjustified, it was illegal, they know it. The constitution prescribes a way to remove a General Secretary, but that was not followed. Like I said, it is in the past. I don’t want to go back to it.”
