A tragic incident has struck the Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi after a Form Three Business student, known as Abass, died following a fall from the top floor of the school’s administration block on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Abass, who also served as the acting Boys’ Prefect, reportedly plunged from the storey building during school hours, prompting students and teachers to rush to his aid.

Sources within the school reveal that the young prefect may have been battling suicidal thoughts for some time, though school authorities were unaware. Close relatives—including his mother and uncle—and some students said he had previously made comments suggesting self-harm, but they believed he was joking and did not take his words seriously.

He was immediately rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

School authorities told Citi News they have informed the Regional Ghana Education Service, which is yet to issue an official statement.

Abass has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
