Dr. K.K. Sarpong, former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and Senior Member of the Kennedy Agyapong campaign team, has expressed unwavering confidence in Kennedy Agyapong’s chances in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) upcoming flagbearer primaries.
Speaking in an interview on Lawson TV and Radio’s Ghana Se Sen Morning Show with Kwame Tanko, Dr. Sarpong said, “Kennedy Agyapong has already won the primaries, I have no doubt.”
Clarifying his role in the campaign, he added, “I am not an armchair advisor, and I am more than convinced. I will be very surprised if he does not win.”
Dr. Sarpong also praised the calm and orderly conduct of the electoral process within the party.
“We are calm with the process for the election, and if we win, it is the NPP who have won and will campaign with Bawumia’s team,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of fairness and transparency, adding, “I hope there will be no rigging.”
The former GNPC CEO has been a vocal supporter of Agyapong, citing the aspirant’s strong appeal among Ghanaian youth and his ability to rebuild the party after the heavy defeat in the 2024 elections.
Dr. Sarpong criticized other party leaders, including Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for their roles in past setbacks, emphasizing the need for fresh leadership to position the NPP for success in 2028.
