The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially opened nominations for its upcoming 2026 presidential primaries. The nomination window, which opened on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, will close on August 28, 2025.

According to the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, aspirants must pay a non-refundable application fee of GHS100,000 to participate in the contest. The presidential primaries are scheduled to take place on January 31, 2026.

In a related statement, the NPP issued a strong warning to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over what it described as attempts to politicise the ongoing chieftaincy tensions in Bawku.

Frimpong criticised the NDC for allegedly attributing the recent unrest in the area to the NPP, calling such accusations baseless and irresponsible, especially in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections.
