Inter Milan held off a spirited challenge from Kazakhstan’s Kairat to claim a hard-fought 2-1 win and extend their flawless record in this season’s Champions League.
Coming into the match with three wins and nine unanswered goals, the Italian side were expected to dominate — and they started brightly. Lautaro Martínez, however, squandered several chances, including one cleared off the line, as Inter struggled to find a breakthrough.
The breakthrough finally arrived just before halftime, when captain Martínez reacted quickest to slot home from close range after his first effort was blocked.
Kairat stunned the hosts early in the second half, leveling the score through Ofri Arad’s precise header into the bottom corner. But Inter quickly regained control, with Carlos Augusto restoring their lead with a low drive from the edge of the box.
The victory keeps Inter level on 12 points with Bayern Munich and Arsenal after four games, while Kairat remain winless in their debut Champions League campaign.
