In a passionate and principled call for renewal, Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged party members, delegates, and fellow aspirants to commit to what he describes as “a clean contest for a clean party” ahead of the party’s Presidential Primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

The seasoned engineer and long-time party stalwart issued the statement as part of his ongoing campaign to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections, promising a campaign that prioritizes ideas, integrity, and inclusiveness over insults, inducements, and divisiveness.

“This campaign will be different—free of insults, inducements, and divisive rhetoric. Instead, it will be anchored on ideas, character, and vision,” the statement read.

Describing the current moment as a defining one in the history of the party, Agyepong called on fellow aspirants, party executives, and delegates to uphold the values that built the NPP—integrity, service, and discipline. According to him, the party must show the country that it remains the home of principles and hope.

“We believe that when the contest is clean, the party is strengthened. When the party is clean, Ghana wins,” Agyepong stated, striking a tone of patriotic duty and moral leadership.

Having served the party for nearly four decades, including as Press Secretary to former President J.A. Kufuor and General Secretary of the NPP, Ing. Agyepong has carved a reputation for honesty and consistency.

His campaign has positioned him as the ethical and unifying choice—a leader who understands both the founding ideals and future aspirations of the party.

The statement emphasized his commitment to a values-based campaign, free from vote buying and smear tactics. It also called on delegates not to be swayed by material inducements but to prioritize the long-term integrity of the party.

“Kwabena represents the ethical alternative that our party and nation urgently need,” the release added.

With the NPP scheduled to elect its 2026 presidential candidate in January, Agyepong’s message is expected to shape the tone and direction of the contest as the race intensifies.

As Ghanaians and NPP members alike look toward the future, Ing. Agyepong’s message offers a clear reminder that winning with integrity is not only possible—but necessary.
