I’m Not Going Anywhere: NPP Expulsion Threats Won’t Push Me Out – Frimpong-Boateng
Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng says he remains an NPP member despite party initiating expulsion processes
- Prof. Frimpong-Boateng insists he will not leave the NPP
- He rejects any invitation to appear before the party’s NEC or Disciplinary Committee
- The former minister maintains that “fake” elements within the NPP should exit
Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has made it clear that threats by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to expel him will not compel him to leave the party.
The outspoken former minister said he remains a committed member of the NPP, even as the party initiates disciplinary processes against him over recent public remarks. He further stated that he will not honour any invitation to appear before the party’s National Executive Committee or Disciplinary Committee.
“I will not go there at all. I won’t waste my time,” he said, questioning the credibility of those leading the process.
The NPP recently confirmed that steps are underway to expel Prof. Frimpong-Boateng following his public description of the party as “fake” and his accusations that the current leadership has abandoned the party’s founding principles.
Speaking on Asempa FM on Tuesday, January 13, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng dismissed suggestions that he should exit the party, arguing instead that what he termed “fake” elements within the NPP should be the ones to leave.
“I am not leaving the party. They should leave. They are the fake ones. When they go, the true party will stand,” he declared.
He went further to accuse the current leadership and membership of presiding over the collapse of the party’s values, calling for a complete overhaul to restore the NPP to its original ideals.
According to him, the party in its current form has lost its identity, insisting that a reset is needed for it to regain its founding spirit and credibility.
Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s comments follow an earlier appearance on Point of View on Channel One TV, hosted by Bernard Avle, where he described the NPP as a “fake party” and suggested he no longer regarded himself as a member. He also alleged that the party’s 2023 presidential primaries were manipulated in favour of then Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In response, the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, issued a statement condemning the remarks as “highly reprehensible” and inconsistent with the party’s values, unity, and integrity. The party rejected claims that it is a “fake” organisation and dismissed allegations of rigging in the presidential primary as baseless.
