“I’ll Support My Minister in Putting Measures in Place to Reduce Road Accidents” – Affo-Toffey

Deputy Minister-Designate for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has vowed to help drastically reduce road accidents in Ghana through stricter law enforcement, public education, and the application of modern technology.

Speaking before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, Affo-Toffey pledged her commitment to support the substantive Minister in implementing proactive and life-saving measures across the transport sector.

She outlined a comprehensive approach that includes intensified public sensitization campaigns, better emergency response systems, improved road signage, and the deployment of speed-monitoring technologies such as traffic cameras.

“If approved, I will support the Minister to put in place strong measures to curb road accidents,” she said. “This includes educating the public, ensuring a rapid emergency response, installing clear signage, and using cameras to detect speeding.”

Affo-Toffey emphasized that enforcement of existing traffic regulations—and strengthening them where necessary—will be key in achieving lasting road safety reforms.
