The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has deployed more than 100 police officers to the Ashanti Region for a special, classified security operation designed to boost public safety and enforce law and order.
The large-scale operation forms part of the Ghana Police Service’s strategic efforts to enhance its security presence in critical areas and sustain peace and stability across the region.
Speaking on behalf of the IGP, the Director-General, Technical, COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba, announced that the mission would be executed in collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces to ensure efficiency and maximum impact.
Dr. Gariba urged officers to conduct themselves with utmost professionalism, discipline, and unity, emphasizing that coordination and integrity were vital to the operation’s success.
“We are undertaking a special operation in the region. The locations will be disclosed progressively. The IGP expects you to be professional, firm, and focused—execute your tasks exactly as briefed. Move in teams; no officer should act alone,” he directed.
He also issued a stern warning against leaking sensitive information from the field.
“This is a classified operation—no officer should take videos, photos, or send WhatsApp messages about developments. Do not make phone calls disclosing locations or operational details,” Dr. Gariba cautioned.
The deployment underscores the Police Service’s renewed commitment to safeguarding lives, preventing crime, and maintaining national security through proactive field operations.
