Ernestina Fosu, elder sister of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has vowed to block all plans for her brother’s funeral until the real cause of his death is made public.

Speaking in an interview after her court appearance on October 28, 2025, Ernestina said she and other close relatives remain completely unaware of what truly caused the music icon’s sudden passing.

She insisted that no family decision or court order would push her to allow the funeral to take place without clear answers.

“The funeral will not happen on December 6. We’re not acting out of madness—we simply don’t know what killed my brother. We can’t let people rush the funeral without the truth,” she declared.

Ernestina added that she is willing to allow the burial to proceed on the scheduled date only if the true circumstances of Daddy Lumba’s death are established before then.

“There will be no problem if we find out what caused my brother Charles’s death before December 6. But without that, I won’t allow my family to bury him,” she emphasized.

The late musician’s sister further revealed her mistrust of the autopsy report, suggesting that it may have been tampered with. She said, as the eldest sibling, she was representing her sisters’ interests and rejecting what she described as a “rushed burial process.”

Ernestina also accused certain members of the funeral committee and associates of profiting from Lumba’s death, claiming that some had signed secret endorsement deals behind the family’s back.

“Some people have taken deals. They signed a contract with Flora Tissue and kept money for themselves—that’s why they’re in a hurry,” she alleged.

Her comments follow a Kumasi High Court ruling that dismissed an injunction filed by Akosua Serwaa, Daddy Lumba’s first wife, who wanted to stop the funeral. The court, presided over by Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur, ruled in favor of Kofi Owusu Banahene, the family head, allowing funeral preparations to continue.

Akosua Serwaa had claimed she was sidelined in the funeral arrangements and only learned of the December 6, 2025 date through social media. She also accused co-wife Odo Broni and others of excluding her from key decisions.

Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra after what was widely reported as an illness.
