The Chairman of the NDC Island–City Branch in Kumasi, Mr. Solomon Jabari, has pledged to construct a befitting constituency office for Atwima Kwanwoma if elected as the constituency chairman, citing leadership gaps and lack of coordination in the area.

Speaking in an interview on the Ghana Se Sen Morning Show with Kwame Tanko on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Mr. Jabari expressed concern over the lack of unity in the constituency, noting that the leadership disconnect contributed to challenges during the 2024 elections.

“Politics in Atwima Kwanwoma is worrying. There was no unity during the 2024 election, and currently there is no link in the leadership. If elected, I will fix it,” he said.

He also revealed that despite providing T-shirts, food, and other support to the constituency during the last elections, his role as branch chairman of the Island–City branch in Kumasi was never coordinated with the constituency leadership.

Mr. Jabari officially announced his intention to contest the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency Chairmanship of the NDC, should nominations open later this year on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Ahenema Kokobeng, during the NDC Island–City end-of-year party, an event that brought together party supporters and key regional figures

“I am an NDC financier and part of the security team. If I can support activities at the regional level, then I must come back to the constituency because I will need their support in the future,” he explained.

Highlighting that Atwima Kwanwoma is the second-largest constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Jabari lamented the absence of a permanent constituency office.

“A constituency of this size must have a proper office. Beyond that, we need leadership that links branches, wards, and executives. That is the gap I am coming to fix,” he said.

He emphasized that his priority will be to restore unity, improve communication, and strengthen grassroots mobilization, ensuring that all party members work together to build a stronger constituency.

Mr. Jabari’s announcement signals the start of what promises to be a keenly contested race for the Atwima Kwanwoma NDC Chairmanship, as the party seeks to rebuild cohesion in one of its most important constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
