Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has broken his silence on his controversial exit from the club, revealing a web of internal drama, favoritism, and personal betrayals that plagued his time at the Porcupine Warriors.
In an interview, Blay disclosed that he sensed his fate at the club was sealed long before it became official.
“I already knew I wasn’t part of the club’s future plans,” he said. “I realized it during our camp before the FA Cup match against Golden Kick FC. Later, I was called and told I was no longer in the team’s plans—not just because of performance.”
He added that he overheard a conversation between club official Nana Apinkra and Coach Kwesi Appiah, in which a clear preference for another player, “Kwame,” confirmed his suspicions of favoritism.
Addressing rumors about his lifestyle, Blay pushed back against claims that he was the sole “drunkard” in the squad.
“People think I was the only one who drank. That’s false. Others, like Joseph Ablor and Camara Mohammed, smoked shisha too,” he stated.
Beyond off-field habits, Blay revealed messy personal fallouts. He recounted how Camara Mohammed allegedly stole his girlfriend, which led to a police incident. Even more painful, he claimed, was striker Kwame Opoku taking over his “sugar mummy,” further deepening the emotional toll.
“In fact, that tension even caused me to assault a security man at the clubhouse,” Blay admitted, adding, “I’m explaining this because people have twisted the story.”
His revelations come months after Kotoko and Blay mutually agreed to part ways, despite one year remaining on his contract. The midfielder’s candid remarks now shed light on the complex personal dynamics behind his departure.
