Dr. Kwame Kyei, the financier of Ghana Premier League side Nations FC, has voiced his deep disappointment and regret over his involvement in Ghanaian football, following violent incidents during his team’s match against Basake Holy Stars on Sunday.

The chaotic encounter at the Ampain AAK II Arena saw Dr. Kyei and club president Divine Kyei Boadu allegedly assaulted, amid growing tensions over controversial refereeing decisions. Nations FC walked off the pitch in protest after two disputed penalties were awarded to the home side.

Dr. Kyei did not mince words about his frustration.

“I have regretted getting involved in Ghana football,” he said. “I have lost the passion for it. We are hoping for change. If we all just sit and complain without acting, then we are failing in our responsibility as elders.”

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has yet to issue an official response to the incident.

The match was of major importance for Nations FC, as a win would have sealed their first-ever Ghana Premier League title.
