- Authority pledges transparency and urges the public to report any suspected malpractice through official channels
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched an investigation into allegations of extortion by officers of its Customs Division Task Force in the Ashanti Region, following complaints from the Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG).
In a press release on Thursday, November 27, 2025, the GRA said it was reviewing reports that some officers intercepted containers bound for Kumasi, claiming the goods were undervalued. TAGG alleged that the officers then demanded additional payments from the importer, who contested the charges as unjustified.
The Authority stressed that it is taking the allegations very seriously and has initiated a comprehensive internal inquiry to verify the facts. It promised that the findings will be made public once the investigation is complete.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the GRA encouraged traders, importers, and the public to report any suspected malpractice through official channels, underscoring that maintaining integrity in its operations is a top priority.
