Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has announced that the government will officially roll out its No Fees Stress policy on Friday, July 4, 2025.
This initiative, originally introduced by President John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 election campaign, seeks to eliminate academic user fees for all first-year students in public tertiary institutions within the first 120 days of the current administration.
Addressing the 58th Special Congregation at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the Vice President disclosed that over 100,000 students have already completed their online applications for the scheme.
She emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to funding models that enhance access to quality education, highlighting the No Fees Stress policy as a key strategy.
According to data from the Students Loan Trust Fund, which administers the program, by mid-June nearly 130,000 students had accessed the application portal, with more than 100,000 finalizing their submissions.
The Vice President confirmed that the official application launch will take place on July 4 and reiterated the government’s dedication to broadening educational opportunities and safeguarding academic freedom.
