The Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi Esq, has fired back at critics questioning the performance of the transformational GoldBod project and the Mahama government, describing their claims as “imaginary losses” and politically motivated attacks.

In a Facebook post over the holiday season, Sammy Gyamfi accused the critics, whom he referred to as “doom wishers”, of creating false narratives about GoldBod’s financial performance in a bid to see the initiative and the government fail.

“In their desperation to see the transformational GoldBod and the Mahama government fail, the doom wishers have created ‘by force’ imaginary losses and are aggressively imposing same on the surplus-making GoldBod. How ridiculous,” he wrote.

He further reminded Ghanaians that some of the very policies the critics now deride, particularly the DGPP, came with inherent costs, which had always been part of a holistic economic analysis weighing “cost versus economic benefits.”

“They have soon forgotten the objects, policy-design and cost associated with the DGPP they once touted, albeit with very little to show for. Today, the doom wishers are castigating the very administration of the BoG that has delivered the most sterling economic record in Ghana’s recent history…what they failed to do in 8 years,” he added.

Despite the heated exchanges, Sammy Gyamfi encouraged Ghanaians to enjoy the holidays and remain confident in GoldBod’s achievements. Humorously referencing the criticism directed at him, he joked about his golden attire prepared by the critics:

“By the way, I think I look amazing in the golden suit prepared for me by the doom wishers. Who can gift me one? 😂😂😂”

He also provided an update on the economic front, noting that the interbank dollar rate for the day stood at GHS11.1, signaling stability amid ongoing debates about the economy.

He concluded his post with a holiday greeting, urging Ghanaians to celebrate peacefully while the critics continue to dwell on what he described as “imaginary losses.”
