The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Ashanti Region has stepped up engagements with senior security officials to enhance collaboration on public safety and shared concerns.
Led by Regional Chairman Kofi Adu Domfeh, along with Vice-Chairman Nicholas Osei-Wusu and Secretary Beatrice Spio-Garbrah, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the newly-appointed Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto.
During the meeting, Mr. Domfeh emphasized the association’s commitment to constructive media-security relations, highlighting that both institutions share a common goal of promoting peace, safety, and accountability. “The media will continue to partner with the police in safeguarding our communities while keeping the public informed on security matters,” he stated.
The GJA executives also visited the Ashanti Regional Prisons Command, where they met with the Regional Commander, Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) James B. Mwinyelle (Ing). Discussions centered on advancing prison reforms and increasing public awareness of correctional initiatives.
The association pledged support for the ‘Think Prisons 360°’ initiative, describing it as a forward-thinking effort to reshape perceptions of the country’s prison system and promote humane rehabilitation standards.
These engagements are part of the GJA Ashanti Region’s broader strategy to strengthen institutional partnerships and champion responsible journalism in addressing the region’s social and security challenges.
