The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre following a serious road accident earlier this week that sparked widespread concern across Ga State and beyond.

His release came shortly after a hospital visit by President John Dramani Mahama, who checked on the monarch’s condition and extended his well wishes.

The accident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, February 17, 2026, along the Pai-Katanga stretch of the Oti Highway in the Oti Region, as the King returned to Accra from an urgent mission in the Northern Region. According to palace officials, the King’s convoy was navigating the highway when the crash happened.

The visit that prompted his return had been undertaken at the invitation of the Ya Naa, aimed at fostering traditional unity and strengthening ties between the Ga and Dagbon kingdoms.

Despite the severity of the accident, there were no fatalities. The Ga Mantse and his entourage received immediate assistance from Ghana Police Service personnel and royal staff before being transported to Accra for further medical care.

At the University of Ghana Medical Centre, the King and his aides underwent medical examinations to determine the extent of any injuries. A statement from the palace, signed by Chief of Protocol and Communications Amb. Sir S.J.K. Parker-Allotey, confirmed that His Royal Majesty’s recovery was swift and satisfactory.

The Ga Mantse has directed his office to express profound gratitude to the emergency responders, the medical team, and the public for their prayers and well wishes following the accident.
