Bawku Conflict Violence Spreads: One Dead, Soldier Injured in Bus Shooting in Ashanti Region

A fatal shooting incident in the Afigya Kwabre District of the Ashanti Region has left one civilian dead and a military officer injured after gunmen ambushed a Kumasi-to-Tamale minibus in Denase Township.
The attackers, suspected to be linked to the ongoing Bawku conflict, reportedly trailed the Toyota minibus from Adehyie Market and opened fire near the Church of Pentecost building at around 9 p.m. on Thursday.
The gunmen, wielding AK-47 rifles, unleashed bullets at the vehicle just as the driver slowed down at a speed bump.
In a swift reaction, the driver ducked and managed to escape the scene, rushing the injured to St. Patrick Catholic Hospital in Offinso.
Unfortunately, one passenger, identified only as Abiola and seated directly behind the driver, was declared dead on arrival.
A military officer seated in front was also hit and is receiving treatment.
Crime scene officers recovered 14 spent shells at the site.
Police confirmed the incident and have launched a manhunt for the suspects, while security has been intensified in the area.
