Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, has been transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra, following his arrest on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
Jumah was reportedly apprehended by police while celebrating his birthday at a private residence in Kumasi. His arrest is tied to an ongoing investigation into suspected financial misconduct during his tenure at the helm of the state-owned distillery.
Initially detained at the Ashanti Regional Police Command, he was later transported to Accra for further questioning.
This development follows a previous operation on May 15, when security agents attempted to seize state vehicles allegedly still in Jumah’s possession. He was not home at the time.
Sources indicate that Jumah is being investigated for alleged unauthorized asset sales and questionable acquisition of vehicles while leading GIHOC.
