Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, has been released on bail set at GHS500,000 with two sureties following his arrest over allegations of stealing company vehicles.
Jumah appeared at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on Monday, June 30, where the bail was granted.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest during a press briefing led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor.
She explained that the detention came after GIHOC Distilleries filed an official complaint accusing Jumah of unlawfully taking vehicles owned by the state-run beverage firm.
According to DCOP Donkor, three of the missing vehicles have already been recovered by the police. She added that Jumah is cooperating with investigators to help resolve the case.
“We received a petition claiming some vehicles belonging to the company were stolen by Maxwell Kofi Jumah. He is currently assisting with the investigation at CID. As of today, we have recovered three of the vehicles,” she stated.
The police continue to follow up on the matter as investigations proceed.
