Deputy Minister-Designate for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson, has passionately advocated for policies that welcome Ghanaians in the diaspora—especially those with dual citizenship—back to contribute to national development.

Speaking before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, the Assin North MP shared his deep belief in the potential of returnees to fuel progress, noting that despite years abroad, many still feel a powerful connection to Ghana.

Having lived in Canada for 42 years, Mr. Quayson emphasized the emotional, cultural, and familial bonds that tie diasporans to their roots.

He urged the state to harness this connection by implementing strategies to attract their skills, investments, and experience, insisting that a well-managed economy could transform Ghana into a “paradise in disguise” for returning citizens.
