Tensions over the ongoing Senior High School (SHS) placement exercise have intensified, with a glass door at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Hall in Accra breaking amid a rush by anxious parents seeking placement for their wards.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, as a large number of parents and candidates gathered at the facility, one of the designated centres for addressing concerns related to the SHS placement process.
Parents whose children are yet to secure placement are appealing to the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ministry of Education and President John Dramani Mahama to urgently intervene and resolve the outstanding challenges.
The heavy crowd and rush for assistance reportedly resulted in the glass entrance door breaking, highlighting the growing frustration and desperation among some parents.
