Ghana’s Ambassador to China, Kojo Bonsu, has welcomed China’s Build Your Dream (BYD) decision to establish an electric vehicle assembly plant in Ghana, describing it as a significant investment that will spur job creation and strengthen the country’s economy.
Speaking in a phone interview, he explained that the establishment of the plant would create extensive employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth, support government development efforts, and stimulate economic growth.
“I would be glad if even about ten companies like BYD decide to set up such plants. It will bring investment into Ghana and create jobs for the youth,” he said on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
He also encouraged stronger collaboration between Chinese traders and the Ghanaian community in China, noting that such partnerships would help open economic doors and expand business prospects.
“We have no issues with them. We are pleading with them to support us, open doors for us, create more jobs, and help stabilize the economy,” he added.
Ambassador Bonsu further emphasized that he maintains a strong relationship with Ghanaians living in China—especially students—and remains committed to their safety and welfare.
