Two people have died and three others are in critical condition following a violent robbery at a mobile money (MoMo) vendor station in Fufulso Junction.
The attack occurred around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, when armed robbers reportedly targeted the vendor while he was attending to a customer. The assailants opened fire, fatally shooting both the vendor and the customer, who died on the way to the hospital.
Three additional individuals sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and are currently being treated at Buipe District Hospital, where medical staff report they remain in critical condition.
The incident triggered unrest in the community, with reports that some youths set fire to several homes in Fufulso later that night. In response, security personnel have been deployed to the area to restore order and prevent further violence. Officers are maintaining a presence at Fufulso Junction to safeguard lives and property.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm as investigations into the robbery and subsequent disturbances continue.
