Pressure group Arise Ghana staged a protest at the United States Embassy in Accra on Tuesday, calling for the return of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to face investigations over alleged financial mismanagement.

Clad in red and black, protesters carried placards with messages such as “Bring Ken Home” and “No Hiding Place for Corruption”, urging authorities to ensure accountability.

The demonstration comes as Ofori-Atta, who served as Ghana’s Finance Minister from 2017 to 2024 under the NPP, remains abroad amid ongoing probes by the Office of the Special Prosecutor into multiple transactions approved during his tenure.

The investigations reportedly cover revenue assurance contracts, public debt restructuring processes, and payments under sole-sourcing arrangements, among other financial matters.

Ofori-Atta’s lawyers have maintained that he is willing to cooperate with lawful investigations, citing health and security concerns for his temporary stay outside Ghana.
