The Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region and Divisional Chief of Kadi in Binduri, Abdul-Malik Azenbe, was tragically shot and killed by unidentified attackers on the evening of Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Eyewitnesses report that two armed men on a motorbike arrived at the chief’s residence, located near the Asawase F-Line Community Centre, around 8:40 p.m. One of them, wielding an AK-47 rifle, opened fire on the chief before the duo sped off.

Enskinned just three months ago as Kadi Naaba, Chief Azenbe was first rushed to Manhyia District Hospital and later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, visited the grieving family and assured them of a thorough investigation. He promised the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

In response, police have heightened security in the area and are urging the public to provide any information that could assist in the arrest of the suspects.

The Kusasi community has been left devastated by the brazen attack, with widespread calls for swift action to ensure peace and justice.
