Bagbin Refers Seven Supreme Court Nominees to Appointments Committee
Seven judges nominated by President Mahama to face parliamentary scrutiny following referral by Speaker Bagbin
- Speaker Alban Bagbin has referred seven Supreme Court nominees to the Appointments Committee for vetting
- The nominees were appointed by President Mahama
- Three parliamentary committees will jointly oversee the vetting process
Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has officially forwarded seven Supreme Court nominees to the Appointments Committee for review and reporting, in line with Article 144(2) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
The nominees, selected by President Mahama, include Justices Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh, and Senyo Dzamefe. Also nominated are Justices Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, Philip Bright Mensah, Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, and Hafisata Amaleboba.
During a parliamentary session on Tuesday, May 27, Speaker Bagbin directed members of the Judiciary Committee, as well as the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, to collaborate with the Appointments Committee in the vetting process.
