Ayawaso East Bids Farewell to Veteran MP Mahama Naser Toure Today

Janazah prayer scheduled for 10am at Kanda Highway constituency office; burial to take place at Madina Cemetery

The late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Mahama Naser Toure, will be laid to rest today, Monday, January 5, following his passing after a brief illness.

The announcement was made by the MP for Ayawaso North, Yussif Jajah, who confirmed that Mr. Toure died on Sunday, January 4. He disclosed that with the intervention and support of President John Dramani Mahama, swift arrangements were made to release the late MP’s body for burial.

In line with Islamic rites, a Janazah prayer will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Ayawaso East Constituency Office along the Kanda Highway, led by the National Chief Imam. Burial will follow at the Madina Cemetery.

Paying tribute, Mr. Jajah described Mahama Naser Toure as a distinguished and widely respected parliamentarian whose death has created a significant void both in Parliament and within the Ayawaso East Constituency.

He noted that the late MP served four consecutive terms, leaving behind a strong legacy of leadership and mentorship for younger politicians. Among his notable initiatives was “Operation Cement Your Lungu,” a community-driven project that improved sanitation and infrastructure in parts of Nima.

Mr. Toure also played a key role in facilitating road construction, upgrading facilities at the Nima Police Station, and supporting the Nima Government Hospital.

According to Mr. Jajah, anyone who succeeds the late MP will face the demanding task of sustaining his development agenda and preserving the legacy he leaves behind.
