The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to continue his mediation role in the ongoing Bawku conflict starting Monday, April 28.

This comes after President John Mahama affirmed his support for the peace process, which remains a key part of national efforts to bring stability to the region.

In a statement released on April 15, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II confirmed that his mediation sessions will run from April 28 to May 1 at his Kumasi palace, aimed at resolving the escalating Bawku disturbances.

Retired Security Analyst Colonel Festus Aboagye has called for increased backing of the Asantehene’s efforts.

In a recent opinion article, Colonel Aboagye advocated for a more inclusive approach, recommending the integration of various societal groups, including diaspora leaders, youth influencers, and women’s peacebuilding networks, through multi-track diplomacy to ensure a lasting peace.

“Support the Asantehene’s mediation with a broader, multi-faceted strategy, engaging diverse voices for a more sustainable resolution,” he urged.
