The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has praised the leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno during a visit to the Ghana Police Service Headquarters in Accra on January 6.

Otumfuo highlighted the importance of his visit, noting it as more than a ceremonial engagement, but a chance to strengthen collaboration between traditional authorities and the nation’s security agencies.

Expressing admiration for the Police Service, he said with a touch of humor, “I appreciate the warm welcome accorded me and my entourage. I admire the women parade in their uniforms. Mr. IGP, please prepare a Police uniform for me so that next time when I am coming, I will be in my Police dress.”

In response, IGP Yohuno welcomed the Asantehene and commended his efforts in promoting peace, particularly in resolving the Dagbon and Bawku conflicts. He also announced plans to introduce a course on tradition and culture into police training curricula, aiming to help officers better understand the cultural contexts in which they operate.

The visit was attended by members of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Deputy Minister of the Interior Okletey Tei Larbi, and other government officials.
