Senior Advisor to the 2025 Bawumia Campaign, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, has defended former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s record, asserting that history will ultimately recognize the achievements of his administration despite ongoing criticism.
Speaking on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Mr. Karbo argued that assessments labeling the Akufo-Addo government as among Ghana’s worst are premature. He stressed that the true impact of policies and development projects under the eight-year presidency will only be fully appreciated over time.
Karbo highlighted flagship initiatives such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, social interventions, and infrastructure projects as part of Akufo-Addo’s enduring legacy. He cited Lawra as an example, noting that the district experienced significant progress in just four years, including its elevation to a municipality, construction of a new TVET and Girls’ SHS, and the provision of 149 boreholes to address water scarcity.
“These interventions, when evaluated over the long term, will show the developmental footprint of Akufo-Addo’s presidency and shape how Ghanaians ultimately judge his tenure,” Karbo said, emphasizing that time will serve as the ultimate measure of vindication.
