Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Elections Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, has urged the party’s five presidential aspirants to accept the outcome of the January 31, 2026, primaries and commit to supporting the eventual winner.

Speaking at a peace pact signing ceremony in Accra, Mr. Osei Owusu emphasized that the aspirants must affirm the transparency, inclusiveness, and fairness of the primary process. He stressed that such a commitment would boost confidence among party members and allow them to campaign and vote freely.

“We want the contestants to affirm that the process has been transparent, inclusive, and fair. We want them to commit to accepting the results and supporting whoever wins among the five contestants,” he said.

He noted that adherence to the pact would strengthen the party and better position it for the 2028 general elections.

“Our hope is that this pact will be taken seriously as a binding agreement between the party, the aspirants, and God. If honoured, it will ensure the party emerges stronger and united for 2028,” Mr. Osei Owusu added.

The NPP presidential aspirants are:

  • Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia – former Vice President

  • Kennedy Agyapong – former MP for Assin Central

  • Dr. Bryan Acheampong – MP for Abetifi and former Minister of Agriculture

  • Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum – former Minister of Education

  • Ing. Kwabena Agyepong – former NPP General Secretary

The party hopes that by signing and respecting the peace pact, aspirants will ensure unity, reduce tensions, and rally support behind the flagbearer ahead of the 2028 polls.
