Applications for the nationwide innovation programme remain open until September 30, 2026.

The MoMo Fintech Lab is designed to identify, mentor and support innovators in turning technology-driven ideas into practical and commercially viable solutions that address everyday challenges, expand financial inclusion and contribute to Ghana’s digital economy.

Of the more than 990 entries received, 56% fall under the Everyday Payments and Financial Access category, making it the largest of the four innovation tracks.

Business and Merchant Growth Tools accounts for 17% of submissions, while Trust, Security and Digital Identity represents 15%. The Future of Finance and Connected Ecosystems category accounts for the remaining 12%.

The submissions are also at different stages of development, with 374 entries (37.8%) at the concept stage, 341 (34.4%) at the idea stage, 156 (15.8%) at the prototype stage and 119 (12%) classified as minimum viable products (MVPs).

Commenting on the response, Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney Fintech Limited, Shaibu Haruna, said the strong turnout demonstrates the depth of Ghana’s innovation ecosystem.

“The response so far is encouraging. Receiving nearly 1,000 submissions demonstrates the depth of Ghana’s innovative talent and the strong appetite to develop solutions to real-world challenges.”

He said the company was particularly encouraged by ideas aimed at improving access to payments and financial services, supporting businesses and merchants, and strengthening Ghana’s wider digital economy.

Mr Haruna urged more innovators to take advantage of the opportunity and submit their applications before the September 30 deadline.

Bootcamps, Hackathons and Mentorship

Following the application stage, selected applicants will participate in zonal bootcamps and hackathons in Tamale, Kumasi and Accra.

The sessions will provide participants with training and an opportunity to pitch their ideas to expert panels. Successful applicants will then progress to a mentorship lab where they will receive further guidance to refine and develop their solutions.

The programme will culminate in a National Demo Day, where finalists will showcase their solutions and compete for cash awards of up to GH¢100,000, alongside digital devices and other forms of support.

Beyond the financial awards, selected participants will gain technical, leadership and commercialisation skills, mentorship, industry exposure and access to networks aimed at helping them develop scalable and sustainable solutions.
