Ahafo Ano South West DCE Abubakar Sedik Laid to Rest
Mourners gathered at the Mankranso School Park to offer final Islamic prayers and bid farewell to the late DCE following his sudden death.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West, Abubakar Sedik, has been laid to rest following his sudden death on Sunday, September 20.
Mr Sedik was buried on Monday, September 21, in accordance with Islamic burial traditions, with the Muslim community gathering at the Mankranso School Park for the final Salat al-Janazah prayers.
Scores of mourners, residents, sympathisers, friends and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) gathered to pay their last respects to the late DCE.
The atmosphere at the funeral was filled with grief and tears as mourners struggled to come to terms with the sudden death of the district’s chief executive.
According to the local assembly, Mr Sedik fell ill after returning to Mankranso from Kumasi, where he had participated in a stakeholder meeting with the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga.
The minister was in Kumasi to engage stakeholders on the completion of the Kejetia Phase Two Redevelopment project.
Mr Sedik reportedly became ill after returning from the meeting but could not survive.
His death comes barely a week after he was accused of spearheading an attempt to demolish a school facility at Mankranso to pave the way for the construction of a 24-hour economy market.
He denied the allegation.
Mr Sedik was also the NDC parliamentary candidate for Ahafo Ano South West in the 2024 general election.
