Three Killed After News Helicopter Crashes While Covering Deadly LA Bus Collision

Three people have died and two others have been taken to hospital after a news helicopter crashed in suburban Los Angeles while covering a deadly bus collision, authorities said.
The helicopter, identified by NBC Los Angeles as its NewsChopper4, was also operated for Telemundo 52. It was in the area on Tuesday evening to report on the earlier fatal bus crash.
NBC4 confirmed that two people aboard the helicopter were killed in the crash. The station identified them as Eliana Moreno and George Marciniw, describing them as valued friends and colleagues.
The third victim was on the ground when the helicopter crashed, although their identity had not been released.
According to a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson, the aircraft went down shortly before 7:00 p.m. local time in the Chatsworth neighbourhood, landing between two commercial buildings.
The crash sparked a fire that spread to four vehicles and two storage containers. More than 70 firefighters were deployed to the scene, the fire department said.
During emotional live coverage, veteran NBC4 news anchor Colleen Williams confirmed that the helicopter involved was operated by the local television station.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and determine what caused the aircraft to go down.
