Atiwa West MP Gifts Trunks, Mattresses, Bags To Over 700 SHS Freshers

The Member of Parliament for Atiwa West, Laurette Korkor Asante, has supported more than 700 newly admitted Senior High School students in the constituency with trunks, mattresses and school bags.
The initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and ensuring that no student misses school because of a lack of basic supplies.
Presenting the items to the students and their parents at Akyem Akrofufuhene in the Atiwa West constituency, the MP said every child in the area deserved the opportunity to obtain at least a secondary education.
According to her, secondary education equips young people with the knowledge and analytical skills needed to navigate life, adapt to society and make informed decisions.
Ms. Asante encouraged the students not to allow failure in any subject to discourage them from pursuing their ambitions. She urged them to take their studies seriously, stressing that education can open opportunities regardless of a person’s background.
She said the Senior High School level was only the beginning of the students’ journey and encouraged them to work towards university education, pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), or become successful entrepreneurs.
The MP explained that supporting education had been one of her major priorities since she decided to contest the parliamentary seat. She said she wanted to prevent situations where students were unable to report to school because their families could not afford basic items such as trunks and mattresses.
She assured beneficiaries that the initiative would continue for as long as she remained in office.
Ms. Asante recalled that in the previous year, she supported 500 SHS students with GH¢500 each to purchase provisions, adding that the programme would continue next year.
She urged the students to study hard, noting that knowledge gained through education would remain with them and help prepare them to become future leaders of Atiwa West and Ghana.
