The Buipe District Magistrate Court has denied bail to two persons standing trial in connection with the alleged lynching of a young man at Daboya in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
The accused, Adjei Abdulai, a final-year student of the Savannah College of Education, and 22-year-old Issah Mahama, have been remanded into police custody after the court rejected their lawyer’s bail application.
Presided over by Livingston Lartey Yao Ameevor, the court directed the two accused persons to reappear on September 21, 2026.
The case relates to the death of a young man identified as Yibonwura, who was allegedly attacked over accusations that he had stolen shea nuts.
The two accused persons reportedly became emotional and shed tears in court following the refusal of their bail application.
Prosecuting, Inspector Mumuni Muniru told the court that investigations into the incident were still ongoing.
He disclosed that the Police were also working to apprehend a third suspect, who is currently on the run and is allegedly connected to the incident.
The court’s decision means Abdulai and Mahama will remain in police custody as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged lynching.
The two are expected to return to court on September 21, when the case will come up for further proceedings.
