Government Rolls Out Phase Two of Public Sector Reforms to Boost Efficiency
New phase targets institutional performance, accountability, professionalism and digital service delivery.

The government has commenced the implementation of the second phase of the National Public Sector Reform Strategy as part of efforts to improve institutional performance and enhance public service delivery.
Minister of State for Public Sector Reforms, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, said the initiative is aimed at addressing inefficiencies and revitalising public institutions to make them more effective and responsive to citizens’ needs.
She made the remarks at the 10th edition of Burkina Faso’s Human Resource Café 2026, held in Accra.
According to the Minister, the Public Sector Reform Secretariat remains committed to transforming the operations of public institutions and ensuring that government services are delivered more efficiently.
She said the reform agenda focuses on reducing inefficiencies, strengthening transparency and accountability, promoting professionalism and developing human capital.
The government also plans to improve institutional performance through the increased use of digital technologies in public service delivery.
“The Public Sector Reform Secretariat, with its mandate to provide initiation, strategic guidance, and coordination for public sector reforms, remains committed to transforming the way public institutions operate and deliver services,” she said.
Akanvariba explained that these objectives are being pursued through the implementation of National Public Sector Reform Strategy II, which provides a framework for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of public institutions.
The second phase is expected to support efforts to build stronger public institutions capable of delivering quality, timely and accountable services to Ghanaians.
