Three Remanded Over Alleged Attack on Obuasi SHTS Headmaster
Suspects accused of aiding assault and unlawful damage on school premises

Three persons have been remanded by the Obuasi Circuit Court in connection with the alleged assault of the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Abdul Zakari.
The court has adjourned the case to August 17, 2026.
The accused persons—Kwasi Brefo, alias Allah; Appiah Arthur Joseph, also known as Nana Appiah; and Desmond Owusu—are facing charges of abetment of crime in relation to causing harm and unlawful damage.
Prosecutors allege that the three suspects aided other individuals, who are currently at large, in attacking the headmaster with cutlasses and sticks, resulting in injuries.
They are also accused of assisting in the destruction of property during the incident.
The alleged attack occurred on August 5, 2026, following tensions at the Obuasi SHTS campus.
The unrest reportedly followed accusations by some students that the headmaster was involved in alleged ritual activities, as well as claims of inappropriate relationships with female students.
The accused persons remain in custody pending their next court appearance on August 17.
